I went to bed last night at around 10:30 which is pretty late for me, so I missed getting kissed at midnight and I was asleep when a Happy New Year text from a loved one was delivered to my phone at about 11 pm (I assume she didn’t make it to midnight either).
And then I was up at 3:30 am with our dog who is not doing well. She’s old and sick and it’s really sad because we are going to have to make a tough choice very soon. My husband was up too, but I’m glad he was able to go back to sleep.
I am a morning person but 3:30 is kind of like the middle of the night so I am pretty sure that a nap will be part of this first day of 2017. Getting up so early did allow me to work on fine tuning this blog a bit and gave me some quiet time to be thankful for all that good in my life and even the not-so-good that is serving to refine and teach me.
I am looking forward to this new year, even considering the present sadness with Bella. I will be sharing things here…my deep thoughts, yes, but also cute kid pictures, funny stories, glimpses of my evolving wardrobe (I am 50-something and just NOW figuring it out, thanks to Stitch Fix), and other revelations.
Here’s Hudson, the reason for my August road trip to Oregon, sitting up at just four months old. “Yeah, I’m sittin’ here chillin’, you got a problem wit dat?”
Happy Blessed New Year!
